If you are staying in the Fiscardo area you should try to pay a visit to the restaurant Veggera. The harbour side undoubtedly has its attractions, but if you are looking for reasonably priced  good food, with great service and a fantastic view, look no further!

Veggera is situated just outside Vassilikades on the main road towards Argostoli. (This would be around 15 minutes if you were setting off from Fiscardo.) Drive through the village of Vassilikades. Veggera will be the first building on the right hand side.  If you are visiting Assos, then Veggera is a good place to stop either on the way there or back.

The view from the terrace is quite marvellous. If you arrive in time for the sunset and a table on the terrace, you’ll enjoy the spectacular sight of the sun dipping towards the sea with the white cliffs of the Lixouri peninsular, as a spectacular backdrop. In early and late season the evenings can be chilly, so do take a cardigan if you wish to sit outside.

The menu is interesting and varied, choose from variety of seasonally available fresh fish or an impressive range of home cooked local specialities such as the famous Kefalonian meat pie, or, if you’ve satisfied your craving for Greek food, try one of the specials. A particular favourite is the fillet of chicken breast in a cream and feta sauce. Calorifically prohibitive, but you are on holiday aren’t you?! Add the excellent and abundant local wine and you’ll have an evening to remember. Unless it’s the last evening of your stay, it’s extremely likely you’ll pay another visit or two.

Veggera hosts 2 special evenings each week:

Every Tuesday is Wine festival evening – this means there is live Greek music, spit roast specialities and abundant local wine. The wine is charged at only 4 Euro per person with unlimited re-fills!

Every Saturday is Greek night – live Greek music, spit roast pork and traditional Greek dancing. Everyone is welcome to join in the dancing!

The standard menu is also available on these nights too.
These evenings are popular so reservations is recommended.
