Small but important, Magganos is situated on a crossroads on the main road from Argostoli to Fiscardo
Because Manganos is on a crossroad, you cannot miss having to pass through on your way in, and out of Fiscardo and to access several villages and beaches. The only drawback is that the roads are narrow, and in high season, a mini traffic gridlock is quite common. However, this is usually only during busy times of day and Manganos is much quieter during the evening.
The restaurants in Manganos provide an interesting alternative to the harbour side of Fiscardo. There is a choice of 3 restaurant / coffee shops and the village has a genuine and authentic feel, especially during the evening. Check out Ionio Restaurant which is one of the first established in the village.
Prior to the economic exodus in the 1930’s Manganos was a thriving village. Situated on an important crossroads, Manganos was the closest shopping centre to Fiscardo and the nearby villages. Now, starting to regain some of its former glory, you will find three restaurants, two supermarkets, a civil engineers office, a hardware shop and a seamstress.
Manganos is near to several villages and a small hotel so is a convenient destination for shopping. If you are staying in Agrilias, Tsamarelata, Matsoukata or Katsarata, it is feasible to walk, great for an evening out without needing to drive or use a taxi.
